If one or a few of your teeth have fallen out, it is not just a problem with appearance — gaps in your teeth can also cause your remaining teeth to shift. This may lead to extra tension when you bite, pain when you chew, or even trouble speaking. A bridge improves the health and appearance of your smile by filling in gaps using a false tooth that is supported by either dental implants, your natural teeth, or both. At LifeTime Smiles of OC in Santa Ana, CA, experienced dentist Dr. Kareem Abraham offers custom-made bridges with high-quality materials to help give you back your smile. If you have missing teeth, schedule an appointment with Dr. Abraham to learn about your treatment options with a custom bridge.
"Dr. Abraham and his staff are great! Not only have they seen me, but our three kids (ages 8,8 & 9, yes twins) and our grandma. We've all seen dentists that are highly recommended, from Corona Del Mar to San Jose as we use to live in Silicon Valley, but I can honestly say that Sr.Abraham and his staff (from dental hygienists, front office staff to the Doc himself) are the best I've seen. They are obviously a for profit business, but they go out of their way to make sure you get more value than what you would ever expect. Dr.Kareem is above all, concerned with the overall health of our entire family. He does things like screen his patients for different issues, as a precaution and doesn't charge extra, just to make sure he has a good overall picture of your health and that you're well informed. I think the biggest thing though is everyone in our family likes going to the dentist because it's always a good experience. The doc is wonderful with our kids and they really like him. They've never complained of anything and that's great! I just recently found out that Dr.Kareem was listed as OC's top 10 doctors in Orange Coast magazine and he didn't pay them a dime, it was a total surprise to him."- S.B. / Yelp / Mar 20, 2019
"The best dentist in Orange County. I have been visiting this office for years now. The staff are courteous and professional, they know who you are and are happy to see you. They provide excellent care and attention with the newest equipment and techniques. MOST IMPORTANTLY you will not feel a thing when they are working on your teeth. They are incredibly gentle while they work. I recently had a filling and the procedure was over before I even knew it. When I say that I didn’t feel a thing I mean that I did not feel even the slightest pinch, pressure, or discomfort. I was incredibly impressed and can not speak well enough about this office."- A.S. / Google / Jun 24, 2020
"We are so thankful we met Dr.Abraham! Our first appointment was our family of four.Luckily they had kids center filled with legos( mind you before this whole COVID craziness happened) where they were able to enjoy legos and watch a movie while my husband and I got our cleaning. I couldn’t believe how sweet and loving all the girls were! I can’t remember all the names but Ms.Anna entertained the girls while Chelsea literally heated up an organic cheese pizza for my girls to eat while we finished! Not only was customer service on point but the actual dental work that needed to be done was finished professionally! Luckily my husband just needed cleaning. But I had some work done including a root canal where I was taken to Dr.Bijan for my root canal In which he did a n awesome job! Didn’t feel a thing with the gentle wave tech! So thank Dr.Abraham for sending me to Dr.Bijan and back to get my perfectly shaped crown that was assisted with Mariah. Did I mention you can get the rhinestones here that have been going In style! Ask Mariah for details! Again, don’t waste your time looking around just check it out! Sorry for novel!"- J.R. / Yelp / Jun 22, 2020
"I have a friend of mine who I hadn’t seen in a while and was absolutely amazed at how great his teeth looked. I asked him who his dentist was and I switched immediately to LifeTime Smiles. I am so glad I did. What a great office atmosphere ontop of Dr. Abraham being a great dentist. I believe he takes great care in the wellbeing of my husband and I and our dental needs. I would HIGHLY recommend LifeTime Smiles of OC."- L.B. / Yelp / Jun 10, 2020
"During the COVID-19 pandemic I had a capped tooth that was previously chipped years ago. The cap on the tooth came off leaving me with half a front tooth and no dentist being open to fix it. Luckily through a family member I was able to find Dr. Abraham and see him in less than 24 hours after I chipped my tooth!! Dr. Abraham went above and beyond to see me and fix my tooth, he even apologized for not being able to see me the same day it happened. His office is also extremely helpful and friendly. Anna at the front desk was very welcoming and accommodating. Also, his assistant Mariah was extremely friendly, personable, and helpful. I now will be going Dr. Abraham for all my dental work and will be referring all my family and friends to him."- A.C. / Google / Jun 10, 2020
Missing teeth are not just a problem with appearance — spaces in your smile can heavily impact the health of your mouth. Your mouth is balanced carefully and a gap may affect how well you can use it. In time, gaps may lead to the shifting of teeth, causing problems with your bite (underbite, crossbite, overbite) and gum or jawbone atrophy. To place a bridge, the surrounding teeth must be healthy enough to hold the restoration with good density in the jawbone and gum tissue. Dr. Abraham will examine your teeth, gums, and jaw at your consultation to determine if you are a candidate for the procedure and to help you select the best type of bridge (cantilever, traditional, resin bonded, or Maryland bonded) and material (ceramic, porcelain, porcelain fused to metal, and metal).
What To Expect
Once your supporting teeth are prepped, Dr. Abraham will take digital images and dental impressions so your bridge can be created. A temporary bridge may be used while your custom one is crafted. As soon as your restoration is ready, your mouth may be prepped with a numbing agent. Stronger sedation methods can be discussed for anxiety or trouble with a gag reflex to help keep you calm during the placement. Your dental bridge can be glued into its position or connected to implants, based on the method you and Dr. Abraham selected in your consultation. Dr. Abraham will adjust the position of your bridge so it is comfortable and stable.
Once your bridge is in place, you should have a noticeable improvement in the function and appearance of your teeth. You may schedule a follow-up appointment at LifeTime Smiles of OC to improve your bridge's fit if it seems loose or uncomfortable after it is placed. Dr. Abraham or an assistant on his team will teach you how to care for your restoration, including the ways to keep it clean and if you need to avoid any foods. It's important to regularly clean your bridge and mouth because decay can develop under the bridge. If you properly care for it, your custom bridge may stay in place for several years. You need to continue to attend appointments at LifeTime Smiles of OC to get an annual dental examination and bi-annual cleanings. At your dental exam, Dr. Abraham can evaluate the wear and health of your custom bridge to decide if it should be replaced or repaired.
Restorations like dental bridges are usually covered, partially, by most dental insurance companies. A member of our team will contact your dental insurance to determine how much your insurance will cover. We also offer several payment methods, including financing options, that may be talked about in your consultation with Dr. Abraham. He can also help you choose the best type and material for your bridge to suit your budget and needs.
